Rabelo Boats on the Rio Douro

These rabelo flat-bottom boats are no longer used as cargo boats but are now owned by port wine companies in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Once a year during the São João festival, the Rabelo Boat Regatta quickly sail up the river to cover the section of the Douro at Porto.
